Sandy Keene, Director of Adult Social Services was able to visit a couple of the phase 1 sites this month and despite some of the teeting problems she reported in her letter to staff :-
- "I have been able to visit some of the first people moving into the new flats and apartments in the Independent Living Project for learning disabled people. They have told me in their own ways how their lives have changed since moving out of the old hostel-type accommodation. They have found new confidence and are asserting themselves to achieve potential they didn’t know they had. And I have talked to the staff who are supporting and encouraging their customers with enthusiasm and passion. My delight at the way we are changing people’s lives for the better is only tinged with sadness because we hadn’t been able to create these opportunities years ago."
